Homeschooling with Confidence: Understanding Missouri and Illinois Homeschool law

Come and learn about your state’s homeschooling laws from Scott Woodruff, the HSLDA attorney for Missouri and Illinois.  Because the Illinois homeschool law is fairly simple, Scott will spend the first 5 – 7 minutes presenting a quick overview of the Illinois law.  Illinois residents can then leave and shop and take any questions they might have on their law to the HSLDA booth on the second floor of the Exhibitor’s Hall.  Scott will then spend the rest of the time speaking on the far more complex Missouri law and will answer questions about Missouri’s law after his presentation.  Scott will also be available at the HSLDA booth throughout the Expo to answer any questions you might have.

The Right Parent For Your Child - You!

Parenting brings out the worst in us. Every hidden sin habit, every unresolved conflict, every unhealed wound shouts at us, jumps on us, and threatens to destroy us as soon as we enter on the perilous path of parenting. So why in the world could you possibly think you could adequately parent your child? Because a shocking, miraculous divine grace has both appointed you and anointed you. He knows every one of your miserable failures. He knows every character flaw. He knows every sin that easily entangles you. And He still picked you to be the parent of your child! HSLDA Senior Counsel Scott Woodruff, the father of three adult homeschooled children, will present God’s plan of redemption as it is worked out through broken parents rearing chosen children. And parents who have bought into the pessimism of our age and are ready to give up will find there is powerful reason for hope, excitement and confidence. They will find their confidence in a God who Himself is everything they lack. And they will run ahead on the path knowing that they are truly the perfect parent for the child God has given them.

Rotten to the Core

Scott Woodruff will explain exactly what Common Core is, a few of its dirty little secrets, and how it is pointed right at the jugular vein of homeschool freedom.  Woodruff will offer a game plan for protecting freedom in a time when powerful forces seem to be pushing everything toward centralizing power in Washington DC.

Your Rights: The Left’s Next Target

The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child has the potential to turn back the clock to a time when homeschool parents were jailed for teaching their kids. It would only take 67 votes in the US Senate to make it the law of the United States. Scott Woodruff will explain some of the astonishing rights that kids would have, and how homeschooling as we know it would disappear.
