SATURDAY OCTOBER 5, 2013 SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

10:00 AM  - 5:00 PM  | Remembering Our Fallen Exhibit |
42 S. Main Street Mayville

An opening ceremony will be held on Friday, October 4th at 10:00 am.  A very emotional photo display exhibit, "Remembering Our Fallen,” is a sad reminder of the ultimate sacrifice made by almost 150 Fallen who called Wisconsin home that were killed in The War on Terror while wearing our country's uniform in Afghanistan or Iraq. Warriors of the 21st Century are processionals who volunteered to join the United States Armed Forces. They grew up in the shadow of September 11, 2001, a defining moment for most of them. Many have endured multiple deployments and most return home. Some do not. “Remembering Our Fallen” was created to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. Its legacy will be that these men and women will never be forgotten and that their names will be remembered and spoken.

Saturday 12:30 PM  & 2:00 PM | Honor Flight Movie |
Horicon Marsh International Education Center

Honor Flight is a heartwarming documentary about four living World War II veterans and a Midwest community coming together to give them the trip of a lifetime. Volunteers race against the clock to fly thousands of WWII veterans to Washington, DC to see the memorial constructed for them in 2005, nearly 60 years after the War.  WWII veteran Joe Demler holds a photo of himself taken after his liberation from a German POW camp in 1945. The trips are called "Honor Flights" and for the veterans, who are in their late 80s and early 90s, it's often the first time they've been thanked and the last trip of their lives. The 24-hour journey is full of surprises that deeply move all who are involved. It’s uncommon for World War II veterans to talk about the War, but the Honor Flight experience brings their stories out. Many veterans say, with the exception of their wedding day and the birth of their children, the trip is the best day of their life.
