The Citrus Youth Orchestra is very fortunate to receive grants and donations that cover more than 75% of the actual costs of operating our program. The remaining membership amounts paid by parents cover less than 25% of actual instructor expenses, so in that respect, all students are already essentially "on scholarship". We recognize that even with these deep discounts to membership fees, the remaining amounts due could still prevent some families from participating in CYESO. Additional scholarship funds are available, but they are limited, so we want to make sure that scholarships are granted to those applicants with a financial need. We honor each applicants' privacy, and in so doing also expect their honesty.
Household size and income criteria are used to assess eligibility for tuition assistance. If approved, tuition assistance benefits are good for the entire calendar year -- you need not notify the organization of changes in income and household size. The information provided on this application will be used for the purpose of determining eligibility, and the CYESO board of directors may request proof of qualification at any time during the scholarship application process.
- In calculating total household income, use the GROSS amount (the total income BEFORE taxes, social security, health benefits, union dues, or other deductions) received by all members of the household. Include wages, tips, child support, etc.
- For the purpose of determining household size, deployed service members are considered a part of the household. Families should include only that portion of the deployed service member’s income made available to them or on their behalf to the family. Additionally, a housing allowance that is part of the Military Housing Privatization Initiative is not to be included as income.
